Modern Ciphers

Modern Ciphers

Sept. 10-28, the Holland Project Gallery hosts Modern Ciphers. Pairing Seattle glass artist Tyler Kimball with Reno collage artist Gordon Magnin, Modern Ciphers explores the alchemy of images and connectivity of symbols across medias. Featured in the gallery will be Kimball’s large glass shuttlecocks as well as multiple diptych collages by Magnin. Both artists take commonly placed imagery and symbols, altering or enlarging them to re-create their context, whether it’s personal or cultural. The opening reception is Tues. Sept. 11, 6-8PM.

In conjunction with the exhibit, on Wed. Sept. 12 Tyler Kimball will be doing glass work demonstrations for free at Burnt Knuckle Glass from 7-10PM. The studio is located at 1236 Glendale Ave. #104 Sparks, NV.
