1) The City of Reno is seeking artists for Visual Art BLAST, a unique visual arts event in Reno consisting of a juried art fair and curated gallery exhibition. This event will recognize and support excellence in visual arts and offer artists a venue for promotion and sale of their work. A total of 16-24 artists will be selected to participate. The event is comprised of an art fair on September 6 and 7, 2014, in conjunction with a curated exhibition in McKinley East and West gallery space which will open on August 26 and run through September 7, with a reception on Sept 5. The exhibition will feature artwork from artists participating in the fair. The entry fee is $50 and $10/display table.

2) The City of Reno is currently accepting proposals from artists and curators interested in exhibiting. Gallery locations include: McKinley Arts and Culture Center (East and West) and Metro Gallery in the lobby of City Hall. Exhibitions are seven weeks in duration. All media will be considered for display; however, the unique aspects of each venue should be taken into account by applicants. Galleries East and West are best suited for two-dimensional work whereas the Metro Gallery can accommodate a variety of pieces. All spaces are programmed for the general public. The appropriateness and quality of proposals is determined by a Review Panel, whose recommendations are given to the­­ Public Art Committee for final approval. Selected exhibitions will be promoted by postcard and online. Notification of results can be expected in early summer 2014. First exhibition opening for the gallery season will be February 1, 2015.
