Rogue Art+Craft Village

Saturday November 3rd between 10am-6pm it’s time to get your rogue arts and craft on. This is the second year that the Holland Project and Go For Broke Collective have partnered up to bring Reno an Art+Craft event that really represents the rad things people are crafting and creating. Last year we had 30+ vendors and it was awesome. So come on out 140 Vesta st!

Women’s Night of Beauty

Makeup Class w/ Edin Carpenter featuring all-natural, healthy products and the Nevada debut of DEX (www.dexnewyorkstudios.com/). She’ll lead a workshop that includes techniques, color theory and use, brush vs hands, useful pro tips, and more (after all, Edin’s done makeup on the best–including folks like Rihanna, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood, Edward Norton, Chelsea Handler, Jonah Jill, Vanessa Williams, Olivia Munn…to name a few). It’s $25 and all proceeds benefit Holland Project’s Home is on the Horizon Campaign.

Tri-X-Noise: work by Bill Daniel

On Fri. Oct.7 from 6-9PM the Holland Project Gallery will be hosting the opening of Tri-X-Noise at our new space on 140 Vesta St. The exhibit will feature photographs and photographic projects from three hard-hitters in the world of street and subculture photography: Bill Daniel, Jai Tanju/Film Por Vida and Hamburger Eyes. Come prepared to see hundred of images that range from punk bands in the 80′s to glimpses of street scenes in San Francisco to snapshots that have traveled the world’s mail systems. The exhibit runs from Oct.7-Nov. 4, 2011.

Who is Bozo Texino?

Who Is Bozo Texino? is the product of 16 years riding the rails and documenting the lives and stories of hobos on 16 and 8mm film. Bill Daniel’s film gives the viewer a honest look at the fading tales and legends surrounding the hobo monikers scrawled on trains as well the people who created them. The film will be screened at the Holland Project at 140 Vesta St. on Sat. Oct. 8 from 6-8PM. Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with filmmaker Bill Daniel and the photographers Jai Tanju and Ray Potes featured in Tri-X-Noise. $5 cover.

Home Turf

As part of Home is on the Horizon, the fundraising campaign for Holland’s new space, Home Turf is a pop-up, one night guerrilla style art show featuring awesome artists tied to Reno including Ahren Hertel, Jaxon Northon, Jen Graham, Meg Berner and more. The show will be Fri. August 26 from 7-10pm, $10 admission. This is the only chance you will have to see the show! All proceeds from the door go to the Holland Project and artwork will be on sale. Be prepared to be bombarded with art by over 20 of Reno’s hard-hitters.

Stencil Making Workshop

Sat. Aug. 27 from noon-3pm, Joe C Rock will be leading a stencil making workshop, sharing the goods on how to make simple and multi-layer stencils. You’ll get a chance to learn how to turn images into stencils and how to spray paint with them. Come wield an exact-o and learn the fun of creating, cutting and painting your own stencils. The workshop will be $5 and held at the Holland Project Headquarters on 30 Cheney St. Please RSVP to sarah@hollandreno.org to reserve your spot.

Forage: A Roaming Gallery

Saturday July 23 from 3-8pm, The Holland Project will be taking you on an art-blow-out bike tour of midtown and downtown Reno. Beginning at 3pm at the Holland Project Gallery on 30 Cheney St., Forage kicks off with a group exhibit at the gallery featuring a fortune teller and DJ. From there the roaming gallery will showcase murals, a trebuchet, homemade root beer floats, music including an acoustic set by Last to Leave, a chautauqua performance, forts, yarn bombing and food carts. The final event of the afternoon will be the screening of The Adventures of Prince Achmed paired with an original score by local musicians at the Nevada Museum of Art.
