Scarf Crocheting Workshop

Nothing’s better for keeping your face warm during winter bike rides than a kick-ass scarf and here’s your chance to learn how to make your own. On Sat. Jan 28 at noon, Sarah Geo will be sharing the secrets on how to crochet a scarf. For $5 you will get hand-ons help and instruction as well as problem-solving techniques for a on-of-a kind scarf, not to mention the skill that will put you in the loop with grandmas and yarn bombers alike.

Terrarium Ornament Workshop

We’ve got a fun holiday workshop cooked up for you.

Come to the Holland Project on Sat. Dec. 17 at noon to learn the basics of making a terrarium and then put that knowledge to use to make your own terrarium ornament. $5 covers the cost of materials. If you’re interested in attending please save your spot by emailing sarah@hollandreno.org.

Rogue Art+Craft Village

Saturday November 3rd between 10am-6pm it’s time to get your rogue arts and craft on. This is the second year that the Holland Project and Go For Broke Collective have partnered up to bring Reno an Art+Craft event that really represents the rad things people are crafting and creating. Last year we had 30+ vendors and it was awesome. So come on out 140 Vesta st!

Soft Opening of Bowl moved to Tuesday!

Amazing chefs Larry Dunning (Sezmu) and Carlos Leon are opening a new restaurant inside West Street Market called Bowl and we can’t wait. They are hosting a super special soft opening/sneak peek on Tuesday, October 25 at 7pm. Proceeds benefit Holland, and all you have to do is show up and eat. Come hang!

There will also be the debut of the new mural by Joe C. Rock, DJ, and more.

Women’s Night of Beauty

Makeup Class w/ Edin Carpenter featuring all-natural, healthy products and the Nevada debut of DEX (www.dexnewyorkstudios.com/). She’ll lead a workshop that includes techniques, color theory and use, brush vs hands, useful pro tips, and more (after all, Edin’s done makeup on the best–including folks like Rihanna, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood, Edward Norton, Chelsea Handler, Jonah Jill, Vanessa Williams, Olivia Munn…to name a few). It’s $25 and all proceeds benefit Holland Project’s Home is on the Horizon Campaign.

Tri-X-Noise: work by Bill Daniel

On Fri. Oct.7 from 6-9PM the Holland Project Gallery will be hosting the opening of Tri-X-Noise at our new space on 140 Vesta St. The exhibit will feature photographs and photographic projects from three hard-hitters in the world of street and subculture photography: Bill Daniel, Jai Tanju/Film Por Vida and Hamburger Eyes. Come prepared to see hundred of images that range from punk bands in the 80′s to glimpses of street scenes in San Francisco to snapshots that have traveled the world’s mail systems. The exhibit runs from Oct.7-Nov. 4, 2011.

Who is Bozo Texino?

Who Is Bozo Texino? is the product of 16 years riding the rails and documenting the lives and stories of hobos on 16 and 8mm film. Bill Daniel’s film gives the viewer a honest look at the fading tales and legends surrounding the hobo monikers scrawled on trains as well the people who created them. The film will be screened at the Holland Project at 140 Vesta St. on Sat. Oct. 8 from 6-8PM. Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with filmmaker Bill Daniel and the photographers Jai Tanju and Ray Potes featured in Tri-X-Noise. $5 cover.

Skate Ramp Workshop

Dinner+Bikes

What’s better that some tasty gourmet vegan food and an evening of bike culture?

At 7pm on Tues. Sept. 6 at Bibo Coffee Co on 945 Record St. traveling chef and author Joshua Ploeg will be serving up an amazing vegan dinner. Following dinner, filmmaker Joe Biel will be screening one of his short films and bicycle advocate Elly Blue will be presenting slides and leading a discussion about bike culture. This is going to be an great evening of yummy eats and community talks.

$5/$10 with dinner.

Home Turf

As part of Home is on the Horizon, the fundraising campaign for Holland’s new space, Home Turf is a pop-up, one night guerrilla style art show featuring awesome artists tied to Reno including Ahren Hertel, Jaxon Northon, Jen Graham, Meg Berner and more. The show will be Fri. August 26 from 7-10pm, $10 admission. This is the only chance you will have to see the show! All proceeds from the door go to the Holland Project and artwork will be on sale. Be prepared to be bombarded with art by over 20 of Reno’s hard-hitters.
