On May 3rd Holland, Wolfpack Radio, Brushfire Literary Journal, and Insight Magazine will join forces for one awesome party called AMPS! AMPS has it all; art, music, poetry, free food, and much more. On the music side we have Evynn Tyler Feat. Tea Haze spitting mad hip hop, Last to Leave’s rad folk punk, and Seattle’s goth garage pop killers Grave Babies. That’s right Grave babies! This will also be the Brushfire’s release party so pick up one of those chests of literary gold! The locations is a little tricky, but it’s south of campus right outside of the DMS. And to make this totally great, it’s FREE! Friday, May 3rd 6PM Free.

Week of Wonders, the terrific phoenix to rise out of the ashes of the awesome Orca Team, is playing at Holland on May 4th with Cat Jelly and Jazz the Children. Week of Wonders plays in the sun with a tropical surf sound, more lounging with umbrella drinks than actually catching waves. It couldn’t rule more. Expect shredding bass with terrific vocals. Local angry under 21ers Cat Jelly will spread the punk/no wave word of the strawberried (maybe graped) paw. Jazz the Children are Fallon’s true rock and roll saviors. Seriously they rule and they’re from Fallon, if you miss them you’re kind of a jerk. Saturday, May 4th 8PM $5.

Holland loves Pierced Arrows! They were the first band to ever play the new space and they’re honest to god rock and roll legends. We’re more than excited to have them on May 5th and we’re super excited for the format they’re coming in. This time around they’ll each be telling a story between each their songs. We might get to hear stories about punk legends Greg Sage of the Wipers or maybe Janis Joplin. If we’re really luck they’ll tell us they’re Jim Morrison story, it involves Jim getting walloped in the face by Fred of Pierced Arrows. If you don’t know who Pierced Arrows is each song is a perfect mixture of 60′s rock and roll and punk. Playing with them are local heavy rocker Prescription! Sunday, May 5th 8PM $5 door $7 advance! AWESOME!

Y’all know about Dischord Records? Ian Mackaye’s (Fugazi, Minor Threat, The Evens) truly inspirational DC music label. Well we got Dischord darling E.D. Sedgwick coming on April 19th. This stuff truly rules! E.D. Sedgwick is one of the terrific bands to come out of the dance punk explosion of the early 2000′s, mixing dance indie with a punk ethos. Just like Black Eyes or a less electronic LCD Soundsystem. Playing on the local level is awesome songs by Televisions and the weird as hell Library Lady. Friday, April 19th $5 8PM.
