WOW! October 13 is going to be the jam cause we got garage punk legends Pierced Arrows coming through on October 13th. They’re playing at the Holland Project (140 VESTA) with Don’t and The Z-28′s. If you haven’t visited the garage in a while Pierced Arrows is the project of Fred Cole and his lovely wife Toody Cole of Dead Moon. Fred’s been creating the best garage since the mid 1960′s and what’s even more impressive is that none of it is bad!  Don’t has equally impressive claims to fame featuring Sam Henry, the drummer from the Wipers! To round out the night we have tantrum throwers The Z-28′s, garage rock that might just be the best in town. Women’s Night of Beauty

Makeup Class w/ Edin Carpenter featuring all-natural, healthy products and the Nevada debut of DEX (www.dexnewyorkstudios.com/). She’ll lead a workshop that includes techniques, color theory and use, brush vs hands, useful pro tips, and more (after all, Edin’s done makeup on the best–including folks like Rihanna, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood, Edward Norton, Chelsea Handler, Jonah Jill, Vanessa Williams, Olivia Munn…to name a few). It’s $25 and all proceeds benefit Holland Project’s Home is on the Horizon Campaign.

STARSKATE®ALLYOURSISTERS®The Dawner Party

Let the math noise pop weird post punk used to be instrumental roll on! On October 21st Starskate is playing with All Your Sisters and the Dawner Party. Starskate is ex Batman vs. Predator and completely awesome. All Your Sisters is Fafafa’s Jordan Morrison rocking the guitar with a drum machine and programmed synths, it also is awesome. The Dawner Party fall between Sonic Youth and something much stupider, but in a good awesome kind of way. Annual Halloween Cover Show

IT’S BACK, THE BEST THING EVER!!!! Holland Project’s Annual Halloween cover show. This year we have Tom Waits, The Flaming Lips, a traveling Bob Dylan, various Motown covers in the form of Down Like Motown, Berlin, Neutral Milk Hotel, Rudimentary Peni, Rocket from the Crypt, Pixies, and Weezer. All done by local Reno Artist. Everyone year is awesome and every year it’s cheaper if you wear a custom, so come as Dracula or a sheet ghost. This will be the second show at the new space! Saturday October 22nd at 140 Vesta $2 with custom $5 without music begins at 7pm.

Tri-X-Noise: work by Bill Daniel

On Fri. Oct.7 from 6-9PM the Holland Project Gallery will be hosting the opening of Tri-X-Noise at our new space on 140 Vesta St. The exhibit will feature photographs and photographic projects from three hard-hitters in the world of street and subculture photography: Bill Daniel, Jai Tanju/Film Por Vida and Hamburger Eyes. Come prepared to see hundred of images that range from punk bands in the 80′s to glimpses of street scenes in San Francisco to snapshots that have traveled the world’s mail systems. The exhibit runs from Oct.7-Nov. 4, 2011.

Who is Bozo Texino?

Who Is Bozo Texino? is the product of 16 years riding the rails and documenting the lives and stories of hobos on 16 and 8mm film. Bill Daniel’s film gives the viewer a honest look at the fading tales and legends surrounding the hobo monikers scrawled on trains as well the people who created them. The film will be screened at the Holland Project at 140 Vesta St. on Sat. Oct. 8 from 6-8PM. Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with filmmaker Bill Daniel and the photographers Jai Tanju and Ray Potes featured in Tri-X-Noise. $5 cover.

Skate Ramp Workshop

DIY quarter pipe. Come design it, build it and skate it. Best Saturday afternoon project ever. $5 helps cover the cost of supplies. Just show up at noon at 140 Vesta St. to get in on the action!

Grave Babies are coming for a return visit on September 27th! That’s right! Seattle’s best washed out goth group is coming to the HPHQ. If you missed them last time, don’t this time! The whole house was shaking from their sonic awesomeness. Joining them is riff of the month winners The Spitting Image and Ex-human Mat Rowe laying down the synth!
