5th Annual Stranger Show

November 21, 2014 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Fall is in full effect at the Holland Project and we couldn’t be more excited to present one of our very favorite annual exhibitions!  The Stranger Show is a collaborative program between Hug High School, the Nevada Museum of Art, and the Holland Project that pairs art students from Hug High School with a practicing artist from our local community to create pieces centered on the theme “strange.”  The final works compete for Jury Awards (as determined by members of Reno’s arts community) and an Audience Award (as determined by votes placed by all those who attend the opening reception). The Stranger Show is a unique opportunity for the participating teens and for the artists; one that results in growth, understanding, and skill building, and is a one-of-a-kind experience for both parties.

This year, 23 students from Hug High School were paired with artists who include some of our community’s best painters, printmakers, illustrators, photographers, sculptors, mixed-media artists, street artists, ceramists, woodworkers, and more. Additionally, the Hug High Culinary Class will serve up “strange” themed hors d’oeuvres during the reception.

Come check out all the amazing work, vote for your favorite piece, and munch some strange treats during the Opening Reception on Friday, November 21 from 6-8pm at the Holland Project Gallery on 140 Vesta Street.
