Creating Connections: Art and Core Knowledge Reception

Rita Cannan Elementary School and Veterans Memorial STEM Academy are pleased to present a joint exhibition featuring student artwork at The Holland Project’s Micro Gallery located inside Bibo Coffee Company on Record Street.

This past year Cannan and Veterans were each given the unique opportunity to acquire a half-time art teacher who would work with classroom teachers to integrate art into the curriculum. Art teachers, Jaime Lynn Shafer and Elizabeth Brooks, have been reviewing classroom content and designing art lessons that help reinforce core knowledge while introducing art concepts and terminology to the students.
