Poetry Out Loud

On February 25, the eleventh annual Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest Washoe Country Finals takes place at the Nevada Museum of Art, making this a fun night for poet and spoken word enthusiasts alike.
High school aged students across the state were invited to participate in the Nevada Poetry Out Loud Program (POL). Structured similarly to the National Spelling Bee, POL begins in communities throughout the state as high school-aged students in public, private, charter and home schools master public speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about their literary heritage through the memorization of classic and contemporary poetry.
