Reno for Reproductive Justice: Benefit Show

In 2019, six states passed “heartbeat bills” that prohibit abortion after five or six weeks of pregnancy, when a fetal heartbeat can be detected. Most women do not even know that they are pregnant before six weeks. Alabama, passing the most restrictive ban of all, made abortion illegal during any and all stages of pregnancy with no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Several other states are considering similar bans with a common goal of overturning Roe v. Wade and criminalizing safe abortion practices. Not only are these laws unconstitutional, they are malicious and inhumane attacks on women’s rights to reproductive healthcare.

Reno for Reproductive Justice is a night of solidarity for women across the nation who are fighting for accessibility and privacy to their bodies under this oppressive legislation. All funds will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds.

This is an all-locals bill. Food will be provided by the Washoe Food Not Bombs. There will be a raffle and other artists/vendors selling merchandise at the event (TBA).
