Watercolor Workshop with Ashley Westwood
April 8, 2017 @ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM • $20
Let’s have some fun with Watercolor!
Watercolor has a reputation of not only being difficult, but as a sketchbook medium often used to depict tired still lifes or plein air landscapes. Together, we will look at the potential watercolor has as a contemporary art form and learn some practical techniques to make painting with watercolors much easier, a lot of fun, and something you use to make all sorts of cool projects, enhance your art practice, or fine tune as a skill.
Lead by Ashley Westwood, she will demonstrate the process of professional watercolor painting, from learning to stretch watercolor paper over a personal stretcher bar panel; to understanding watercolor paint and supplies; to learning useful painting techniques. The workshop will end with an open studio time to ask questions and gain experience in the creative process of making your own watercolor painting.
Each participant will take home their own watercolor painting kit: a paper stretching panel, watercolor paper, watercolor brushes, and a watercolor paint palette.
Ashley Westwood is a Reno-based visual artist, working primarily in the watercolor medium. Ashley has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Reno and has been a member of the Holland Project Gallery Committee on and off since 2011. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.
So we can properly outfit each participant with the proper take-home kits and supplies, you must sign up below or RSVP to workshops@hollandreno.org!
