Hey pals- apparently new aquatic species have been found! Yes, it’s true. Researchers in Honolulu, Hawaii just got back from a three-week mission to the French Frigate Shoals in the Northwestern region of the Hawaiian Islands. Some of the species were simply new discoveries in the area, but others may just in fact be new to science altogether. I guess it was sort of like a party, people shouting, laughing having a great time. Joel Martin, a zoologist for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County said, “There were lots of organisms that people were saying, ‘Wow! What’s that?!’”

The discoveries included multicolored worms; a bright purple, foot-long sea star; and a hermit crab that sports shiny golden claws. What a cool little crab! Researchers are still searching the area because more species to discover may still be found. More news next week!
