Last week on Wednesday we took a field trip up to Chalk Creek near McQueen High School to help the City of Reno and Jana from Pinyon Designs with some plant restoration and soil sampling work. The nice folks at Pinyon Designs have been working to restore the vegetation and natural meander of this stream in NW Reno for almost 10 years now and they are stumped as to why the vegetation isn’t growing in the lower strech of the creek. We took soil samples in the upper, middle, and lower streches of the creek to see if there was a big difference there in the content of the soil. It was a beautiful day.
