The Territory

The Territory

There are more bad people out there than any of us could have imagined. But my eyes have been opened Ladies and Gentlemen of the Territory and I must confess that I had no idea that the cold war was really nothing but a jealous reaction on the US’s part to the slaughter taking place in eastern Europe in hopes that we could join in the killing. I had no idea that the show Seinfeld was actually a premeditated tool to gentrify several major US cities in one of the most gruesome display of racial profiling since the Nazi party. And to think that the post-punk off shoot genres electro-Clash and psychedelic folk were actually the two bastard fraternal twins of Alan Greenspan. All of these were rays of eye opening light in the form of three essays, You Can’t Always Get No Satisfaction, The Seinfeld Syndrome, and Rock and Roll as Real Estate. These are just three essays in a book full of them in the amazing survival guide called The Psychic Soviet. TPS is brought to you by none other than Ian Svnonius, famous in fame-rejecting circles for being the singer in The Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up and Weird War. Thank goodness that the good folks in Chicago’s own Drag City label would see fit to put out The Psychic Soviet. To help us through the unknown we will need some knowledge and luckily Mr. Svnonius saw fit to make it pocket sized with a durable read-this-in-a-tornado style plastic cover is just another reason why this will not just be some cockamamie book to be found in ultra-hip east coast boutiques but an understood status quo survival guide. The Psychic Soviet is a Chilton’s manual for the future.
