Second Annual Winnemucca Ranch Art Show and Fundraiser
When: Opening October 16, 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The show will hang from Oct 13 through 23.

Where: Patagonia Service Center, 8550 White Fir Street, Reno Nevada

What: An art show including sculpture, pottery, baskets, painting and photography. There also will be an “art in” at the ranch Sunday afternoon October 12. Numerous artists will be on site at the ranch including Craig Mitchell, Pat Wallis, Erik Holland, Jon Edmondo, Amy-Louise Mazza, baskets by Mary Lee Fulkerson, photography by Mark Vollmer and others.

Why: To raise money to preserve the ranch and support other efforts to fight for sensible growth in Washoe County, such as the water initiative WC3, which will be on the ballot in November, and raise money to donate to candidates who support sensible growth policies, such as an compact urban form and growth in balance with water supplies

Who: Sponsored by Voters for Sensible Growth

More than a dozen well known local artists, photographers, potters, sculptors and basket makers will be creating art based on or of materials from the threatened Winnemucca Ranch area. This area, 30 miles north of Reno, is the target of new high density development. We believe new growth should be directed toward the traditional urban cores of Sparks and Reno, not flung randomly outward just because a politically connected developer bought a ranch. We also support WC3, which would require our regional planners to balance land use plans with proven availability of water within Washoe County.
